Education and Communication

Unions have a long and proud history, involving many thousands of people, places, states, and stories. Along with connecting the community, educating and communicating about the contributions of union workers is part of our mission.

Through outreach, sponsorship of various talks and events, and dissemination of literature, our communication program seeks to educate the public on the contributions of workers and labor to the economy, our country and our culture. Individuals from our group contribute to local chapter newsletters, writing on timely news, issue updates, and events relevant to the community at large. This includes updates on members who live and work outside of the metro-Detroit area.

Our community is constantly engaging the media via our outreach efforts, being interviewed on local news programs, and writing op-ed pieces. We strive to educate about topics such as conflict resolution, negotiation, and labor law through such efforts.
